About Our Story

Malabar Passage creates thoughtful Kerala travel experiences for Australians seeking more than a standard tour — journeys shaped by culture, comfort, wellness, and local connection.

Malabar Passage is a curated travel brand connecting Australians with the beauty, culture, and richness of Kerala, South India.

We design thoughtful journeys for travellers who want more than a standard holiday package. Our experiences bring together Kerala’s backwaters, food, wellness traditions, historic towns, tea hills, coastal landscapes, local communities, and cultural heritage — shaped into journeys that feel personal, well-supported, and memorable.

With roots in Kerala and a strong understanding of Australian travellers, Malabar Passage exists to make Kerala feel more accessible, meaningful, and easy to experience. Our focus is slow, considered travel: the kind that gives you time to understand a place, not just pass through it.

Our Story

Malabar Passage began with a simple idea: to uplift the human soul through a holistic journey through Kerala; to provide a culturally immersive travel experience that enriches the mind, rejuvenates the body and transcends the soul of our customers.

Kerala is where our roots are. Australia is where our perspective has been shaped. Malabar Passage was created from the meeting point of those two worlds — with a desire to build a meaningful bridge between Australian travellers and one of India’s most culturally rich regions.

We believe Kerala is best experienced slowly. Not just through sightseeing, but through its food, people, landscapes, traditions, wellness practices, festivals, backwaters, coastlines, temples, churches, markets, and everyday rhythms.

Too often, travel to India can feel overwhelming, rushed, or difficult to plan. Malabar Passage exists to make that journey easier. We curate thoughtful Kerala experiences for travellers who want depth without confusion, structure without losing spontaneity, and comfort without feeling disconnected from the real place.

Our goal is not to offer generic tours. It is to create journeys that feel personal, well-supported, and memorable — whether that means drifting through the backwaters, walking through Fort Kochi, staying among the tea hills, exploring local food, or experiencing Ayurveda and wellness in a considered way.

Malabar Passage is built on connection: between cultures, between people, and between travellers and the stories that make Kerala special.

Meet the Founder

Headshot of Malabar Passage Founder Charles Darwin

Charles Darwin

Malabar Passage was founded by Charles Darwin, a Kerala-born Malayali who grew up in Australia.

After years of living between two cultures, Charles saw an opportunity to help Australians experience Kerala in a more personal, considered, and authentic way. Kerala is often reduced to a few travel highlights: backwaters, houseboats, tea plantations, and Ayurveda. While these are part of its beauty, Charles believes the real Kerala is much deeper — found in its food, rituals, landscapes, family traditions, local communities, and slower rhythm of life.

Malabar Passage was created to bridge that gap.

Through curated travel experiences, Charles helps travellers discover Kerala with more context, comfort, and care. Each journey is designed for people who want more than a standard holiday package — travellers who value culture, nature, wellness, meaningful experiences, and local connection.

With roots in Kerala and a life built in Australia, Charles understands both sides of the journey: what makes Kerala special, and what Australian travellers need to feel informed, safe, and looked after.

Malabar Passage is his way of sharing the Kerala he knows — not rushed, not generic, but rich, welcoming, and deeply memorable.
